What emission factors are used?

The emission factors used to calculate the product's climate footprint are built into CarbonCloud's calculation engine. They have been developed by and are owned by CarbonCloud and consist of a set of emission factors with global coverage for agricultural products, processed ingredients, refined products, packaging materials, electricity, and fuels. The emission factors are based on various data sources such as data from IPCC, Association of Issuing Bodies, Climate Transparency, FAO/FAOSTAT, National Inventory Reports to the IPCC, and other current literature studies and life cycle analyses. Additionally, emission factors for various production processes and transportation are used. CarbonCloud's modelling takes these factors into account to create a comprehensive picture of the product's climate footprint. For in-depth information, click here.
