Which greenhouse gases does the climate footprint include?

The calculations include emissions to the atmosphere of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) amongst others.

The calculations include emissions to the atmosphere of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O). Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is indirectly included in the emission factors for electricity. Perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) emissions are included in the climate impact of chilled transport, if applicable.

The so-called high-altitude effect of aviation is also accounted for. The primary use of Nitrogen Trifluoride (NF3) is in the manufacturing of semi-conductors and LCD panels, so it's not applicable to food production.

The climate footprint is measured in carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e).
